We Are The Sperm Cells
Written, directed, and choreographed by Daisuke Koshikawa (D.K Hollywood, Tokyo)

Eleven cast members of DK Hollywood (Tokyo-based-theater-company) are coming back to NYC. As they strive to update the image of Japanese Performing Arts, they will present an encore performance of their hit comedy, "We Are The Sperm Cells." Their philosophy is a great show translates to great laughter in any language.

The play is performed in Japanese with English MC narrations.

Kabuki Dance
Soke Fujima School & CUNY Hunter College

For 300 years the Soke Fujima School has choreographed Kabuki dance and drama and has been a leading grand masters of Japanese traditional dance since the 16th century.

This Kabuki Dance paerformance was produced by the graduate students at the Hunter College, and they will briefly explain the dances and the music featured in the dance in English.

"OTODAMA"
Dance like Drumming, Drum like Dancing

OTODAMA (translated as 'Spirits of Sound') is a unique fusion of traditional Japanese Taiko drumming and American funk tap dance, using Japanese Taiko drums, African Djimbe drums, hand-held wooden clappers, thick wooden drumsticks and a shamisen (Japanese banjo).

The young, hip Japanese ensemble goes by the name COBU (translated as 'Drumming & Dancing') and is made up of seven women and two men. The group is led by Ayako Miyamoto. Miyamoto is the first Japanese member of the long-run Off-Broadway hit, "STOMP"
